As for the inspiration, well, you were part
of that. When we documented the original
in Tucson, June 2012, everyone agreed it would be a wonderful quilt to
reproduce. With the repetitive blocks
and the wonderful inkings, it was such a great group project.
Because the Arizona Historical Society Museum
– Tucson and Laraine Daly Jones continues to do so much to help us preserve the
vintage and antique quilts of Arizona, plus the announcement Laraine had shared
with us that day about the opportunity the museum had to acquire a beautiful
Baltimore Album quilt made by Goldie Richmond, we all agreed that this quilt
should be made with the intention of helping the museum raise the funds for
their textile acquisition and preservation program.
So many thanks to Lynn Miller and Shirley
Weagant great efforts, we were able to complete the Oak Leaf and Hearts
Opportunity Quilt and share it with the Arizona Quilt Study Group on
Saturday.
The quilt is now off to Prescott for
quilting. I am so excited! It is absolutely wonderful and when the
Heritage Quilters complete the quilting, words will not begin to express what a
wonderful treasure it is.
Lynnita Knoch from Chandler did all of the
inkings in each heart, reproduced from the original quilt. They are amazing.
